Picturebook into VR
As Ishtar’s final degree project at Konstfack, Univeristy of Arts Crafts and Design she has decided to explore the different worlds of two and three dimensionality in picture book storytelling. Ishtar’s recreation of a children’s book theat she together with Dr. Heather Briscoe his creating will be translated into the world of Virtual Reality where she explores the effect of keeping the qualities of paper cut illustrations in a 3D world. Raising the question of what happens when the picture book environment becomes one’s surrounding and the story told turns into an experience.
Tells about a little creature and it’s realtonship and learnings about nature through it’s family bonds. Each moment with a dear family member teaches this creature about some part of nature’s cycle. Twelve spreads with diffrenet natural landscapes will be recreated into twelve VR environments that tells the story as well as lets the reader experience the picturbook close at hand. An interactive element will be added so that the reader can expereince this picture book in VR at it’s own paste.
